Afërdita Gjoni

    Community Development Specialist | Anti-Trafficking Advocate | Gender Equality Promoter

    With a background in English, Health Psychology, and a Master’s in Gender and Development, Afërdita Gjoni brings over two decades of experience in Community Development and Human Rights work. Since 2016, she has been leading the Mary Ward Loreto Advice and Service Center in Lezhe, while also coordinating the Civic Engagement component of the foundation’s anti-trafficking initiatives.

    Afërdita works closely with women, men, and youth at the grassroots level, focusing on the prevention of human trafficking, promotion of gender equality, and protection of vulnerable groups. She collaborates with local institutions to identify and refer trafficking cases, conducts informal trainings on psychosocial well-being and human rights, and facilitates economic empowerment activities for women through partnerships and formation programs.

    As the national lead for Service Learning in Albania, Aferdita has successfully mobilized schools and communities to promote active citizenship efforts that were nationally recognized in 2019 with a regional award for social impact. Her dedication lies in building inclusive, empowered communities where dignity, safety, and opportunity are a right for all.
