The youth of Fushë Arrës and Puka want a clean river!
Once a source of life, joy, and tradition, the river flowing through our communities of Puka and Fushë Arrës was known for its clear waters and abundant fish. Families swam in it during summer, children played along its banks, and local life revolved around its flow.
Today, that same river runs brown — a stark and painful reminder of the ecological damage we are witnessing in real time. Pollution, mismanagement, and neglect have transformed it from a vital natural resource into a symbol of environmental decay.
But we are not staying silent.
Supported by Mary Ward Loreto (MWL), QSNNN, and the dedicated youth of Puka and Fushë Arrës, we have taken the first step toward healing: coming together to clean the riverbanks. What may seem like a small action is, in fact, a powerful act of resistance — a message that we are watching, we care, and we demand better.
This is not a one-time event. It is the beginning of a wider effort — one that will not stop until the responsible institutions take serious, concrete steps to address the environmental degradation affecting our communities.
Our voices will grow louder. Our actions will grow bolder. And our message is clear: We will continue fighting until our rivers run clean again.
