Rudina Rama, PhD

    Prof. Assoc. Dr. Rudina Rama is a social work professional, academic leader, and long-standing advocate for human dignity and social justice in Albania. With more than 20 years of experience in social services and social policy, she has dedicated her career to supporting vulnerable individuals and strengthening systems of care at both community and institutional levels.

    She serves as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Tirana, where she oversees the PhD program, guides research development, and works closely with national and international partners to promote innovation in social work education and practice. Her academic work focuses on social protection, gender equality, palliative care, and the wellbeing of children, youth, and families.

    Alongside her academic role, Dr. Rama has contributed as an expert and consultant to numerous organizations—including UNICEF, UNDP, Swiss TPH, SOS Children’s Villages, and Terre des Hommes—where she has supported policy development, service improvement, and capacity building for frontline professionals.

    As a Board Member of Mary Ward Loreto, she brings a strong commitment to ethical leadership, empowerment of marginalized groups, and evidence-based approaches that promote human rights and community resilience. She is deeply aligned with MWL’s mission to foster dignity, opportunity, and social transformation across Albania.

    Dr. Rama holds a PhD in Social Work, a Master in Public Administration, and advanced training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
